And After All…

We’ve got Wonderwall.  If you have not seen this reclaimed wall paneling from abandoned buildings and other structures, you are missing out.  With over 12 lines including Mercury, which looks like a warm colored stacked stone and the end cut blocks of Jungle, this product has limitless possibilities within the design community.  For more information email kim@caragreen.com.

EchoPanel “Vee Tile” – Sounds like a winner

The new Vee Tile by EchoPanel introduces a grooved

V-pattern that gives the 20”x20” tile depth and texture that designers will love.  A great complement to the successful Dune, Wave, Rise and Geometry tiles, Vee Tiles maintain a low profile and do not eat up floor space due to their ½” thickness (or thinness).  Available in all colors, the Vee tile is a must-have for design and architect firms looking to introduce acoustic treatments that have visual appeal.

Spotlight on PaperStone

We recently completed a Spotlight Solar project using PaperStone, the incredibly durable, sustainable composite, to build an outdoor solar charging station at NC State campus.  The station consists of two modern curve shaped pieces of PaperStone below a top-mounted solar panel that powers the outlets and ports where students can dock their devices and work on the PaperStone surface.  If successful, the program will undergo a national rollout.

What is ISFA?

ISFA is the International Surface Fabricators Association, and it is the Association to which every stone and solid surface fabricator should belong.  Access industry experts and peers, collaborate on millwork and fabrication needs with others who face the same challenges as your organization does every day.  CaraGreen uses ISFA extensively to facilitate peer to peer communication and find qualified fabricators to work on our material.  If you are not a member of this organization, you are missing an opportunity to grow and improve your business.  You should join today.  Email carol@isfanow.org.

Where have all the colors gone?

While quartz continues down its path of rapid commoditization, with multiple Chinese manufacturers copying all the big names in Quartz, the big guys continue to discontinue any vibrant colors and neutralize their palettes, effectively neutralizing the design community.   For vibrant, bright colors, they have to resort to a cheap laid-up laminate.

Enter DURAT.

Durat offers a sleek, modern set of 70 standard colors.  No murky, muddy tones and random, pebbly aggregates disrupt Durat’s Finnish design aesthetic.  Durat is a designer’s go to material, with clean sophisticated colors that work well for casework, walls, benches and countertops.   For samples of Durat for your next project, please email Meesha@caragreen.com

(Don’t) Knock It Off – Be Unique!

After attending this year’s Kitchen and Bath show in Las Vegas, it is abundantly clear that the time for Modern Surfaces is now.  Modern Surfaces is a collection of truly unique, economical, beautiful materials that are not simply impersonations of some other material that is no longer available. Solid surface trying to look like granite, quartz trying to look like granite and solid surface trying to look like Quartz.  Be yourself.  Be unique.

Apparently “faux marble” is the new look, whether it is a quartz version, a printed knock off or some other impersonation of this veined classic.   Almost every surfacing booth had some reincarnation of this look, and it seems to be a commodity out of the gate.   At CaraGreen, we continue to curate new, innovative materials for you, adding to our Modern Surfaces collection and will launch them throughout the year.  For more information on what WE think is truly innovative, modern, and unique, visit us at www.modern-surfaces.com.
